March 03, 2010. Competitive Edge #1: Investment Analysis for Green Buildings. This first course in the Competitive Edge series focuses on investment and underwriting considerations for new green buildings. It takes participants from green building theory into practice, focusing on helping participants to develop the new knowledge and tools to integrate sustainability into their investment decisionmaking process.

February 13, 2010. Competitive Edge: Financial Tools for Green Building Investments. Galley Eco Capital will be conducting a series of workshops for real estate and A/E/C professionals, who want to improve their ability to underwrite and structure green real estate investments or learn financial underwriting basics in order to communicate with property owners about green initiatives. Hosted by law firm Hanson Bridgett and the US Green Building Council - Northern California Chapter, the Competitive Edge: Financial Tools for Green Investments is comprised of the following four workshops:

November 04, 2009. Responsible Property Investing Council: 2009 ULI Fall Meeting. Lisa will be co-presenting an innovative paper on how institutional investors can utilitize Responsible Property Investing metrics for high-performance investing. Researched and authored in collaboration with Jean Rogers from ARUP, this fresh analysis is certain to become a benchmark for real triple bottom line investing and will help drive programmatic sustainability solutions across domestic and international markets. October 21, 2009. GSMI -The Sustainable Buildings Series: Retrofits. With the credit markets still all but frozen, creating higher returns within an existing real estate portfolio is critical. Lisa will be presenting her views on current challenges and smart solutions. The session will focus on the underlying essentials of financing building retrofits: structuring, financing & return objectives, valuation, benchmarking, lending programs, TBLI.
August 18, 2009. OWA Program: Panel Discussion - Women in Green. Panel Discussion: Lisa will be participating in a panel hosted by Kira Gould, Director of Communications at WILLIAM McDONOUGH + PARTNERS and author of "Women in Green: Voices of Sustainable Design". Discussions will focus on need for cross-disciplinary, collaborative efforts in design as well as green real estate finance. June 17, 2009. Green Finance/Affordable Hsg -Webcast. This webcast presents some of the latest successes and challenges with greening low and moderate income housing. Issues such as benchmarking, underwriting, and incentives are discussed over 45 minutes. These insights come directly from our work with green affordable housing -- showing what's working with stimulus funding, its challenges as well as the latest ideas on the ground for best practices. June 01, 2009. IASP International Conference. Paper presentation: "How Sustainability Advances Science Parks, Their Users, Investors, Communities and Users" at the International Association of Science Parks World Conference on Science and Technology Parks. Lisa Michelle Galley will be presenting alongside Phil Wirdsek, President and Executive Director of the International Institute of Sustainable Laboratories. Both are co-authors of the above paper, which breaks new ground in the advance of sustainability in R&D campus and laboratory properties. Lisa Michelle Galley will specifically how the application of emerging green finance tools and techniques boosts the investment and environmental value of science park properties.
May 12, 2009. Financing Green Retrofits at the ULI Developing Green Conference. Lisa Michelle Galley will be speaking on a panel about the unique costs, benefits and risks of green buildings. The focus will be on underwriting: how developers can address these issues in their financing packages in order to receive the amount of financing these properties deserve. December 03, 2008. Green Finance Workshop for the Ross Program in Real Estate. Lisa Michelle Galley will conduct a session on green real estate finance at the 2009 Ross Program in Real Estate. The session, based on an actual case study, will focus on the types of financial issues that real estate professionals will typically encounter as they structure capital for a green real estate transaction. Some of issues to be discussed include financial incentives, capital sources plus underwriting opportunities and challenges.
The Ross Program in Real Estate is a comprehensive training program designed to provide urban developers with the technical expertise and access to resources needed to develop significant urban real estate projects in their communities. It is organized by the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate and the Bay Area Council.
October 27, 2008. ULI Fall Meeting - Responsible Property Investing Council. Galley Eco Capital, as a full member of the Urban Land Institute, will be participating in Responsible Property Investing Council at the ULI Fall Meeting. This is the inaugural meeting of the Responsible Property Investing Council -- a brand new council for ULI. At this meeting, we expect to focus on the core concepts of responsible property investing and spend as much time as possible on sharing our own business experiences.
