Lisa Michelle Galley contributed to the research contained in this study by our friend Leanne Tobias, of Malachite LLC. This study, prepared for the U.S.-Canada-Mexico Commission on Environmental Cooperation (CEC), surveys the progress of the key actors influencing the financing of US green buildings and proposes a set of recommendations for both private and public sectors to mainstream the delivery of green buildings to the US market. The study underscores the point that because of the capital intensive nature of real estate development and transactions, the engagement of the finance sector is crucial to shaping the built environment in order to preserve surrounding ecosystems and the world’s atmosphere, and to meet the 2030 Challenge.
